Kathleen Moyer – Senior Girls Practitioner

A native of the state of the state of Michigan, Kathleen is a summer camp and outdoor enthusiast! Formerly the girls Camp Director at Camp Kohahna, Kathleen has a passion for working with young women and developing a deeper love of God through understanding the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy.  Becoming a Journal Listed Christian Science Practitioner was the next step after Camp Directing and a vocation that has been wonderfully meaningful and growth-filled!
I had the BEST time serving as practitioner for the Senior Girls last year. The experience was rich with spiritual growth, joy,  sisterhood, FUN activities, delicious food and a beautiful setting to boot! We are so fortunate to call CBI our summer home! I am looking forward to returning for Senior Girls 2018.

Lizzie Witney – Junior Girls Practitioner

As a child I loved knowing that God was always there to help me whenever I needed Him. At Sunday School and at home I learned about how to pray, and I would often turn to God when things came up that needed healing.  It wasn’t long before I was praying for my family and friends too! In 2016 I started to publicly practice Christian Science healing and became a Journal listed practitioner.
Although I’ve served as a camp practitioner at other Christian Science camps, this will be my first year at Camp Bow-Isle. I have heard so many great things about the Bow-Isle and I can’t wait. I’m looking forward to two weeks of fun filled inspiration with campers and staff!

Alexia – Senior Counsellor

Hello parents and campers! Can you wait for the amazing summer we have coming up? I can’t! I am so excited to meet those of you I haven’t met yet, and see those of you that I know already so well. This summer is going to be so much fun! For those of you who want to know a little bit about me, I am a student at McGill University majoring in International Development and Social Justice, and am currently on exchange at Principia College. I love the beautiful outdoors of British Columbia and am one of the few counsellors who are lucky to live right next door to Camp Bow-Isle. I love practicing hot yoga, volleyball, hiking, travelling, volunteering, being around my family, making new friends, and learning more about how truly awesome God is. Can’t wait to meet you soon!

Rhiannon – Senior Counsellor

Hi! My name is Rhiannon, and I am so excited to be here again. I am a student at Principia College studying Environmental Studies to pursue a career in Forestry. A fun fact is that I love goats and trees. I enjoy hiking, doing anything to be outside and enjoying nature, reading, and meeting new people. I am really looking forward to getting to spend time everyone at camp, it is such a special a dear place to me. I love being on staff at Bow-Isle because we get to get to know everyone and create those connections that will last a lifetime. I can’t wait to meet you!

 Tay – Senior Counsellor

Hi there! I’m Tay. I am from Vancouver, British Columbia just 45 minutes from Camp Bow-Isle. While I am Canadian, I currently live in Elsah Illinois and attend Principia College as a theatre major. I love to sing wherever I go and go horseback riding as often as I can. I have been riding for 12 years now and a camper at Bow-Isle for 9. This will be my third summer on staff and I am very excited to come back for another summer of fun. My favourite parts of camp are the great friends, amazing food, and fun games and activities. My favourite camp game is kayak polo and ultimate frisbee and my favourite camp meal is utensil meal. One of my favourite camper memories is singing during the campfire. I look forward to seeing all your smiling faces soon.

  Vanessa – Senior Counsellor

Hi parents of campers! Thank you for sending your children to Camp Bow-Isle. This is a great opportunity for them to grow closer to God as sincere seekers of Truth, as well as have lots of fun with great people, in a beautiful evergreen forest. This May, I am graduating from Principia College with an undergrad degree in educational studies and a visual arts minor. I love working with youth and hope to continue doing that as an outdoor educator as my career. I am originally from Mexico, but I now live in the San Francisco Bay Area. During my leisure time I like to run, rollerblade, travel, take photos, and plan adventures with friends. I am so excited to be on staff again to continue witnessing my old and new campers grow as strong and loving metaphysicians. See you soon!

Abby – Skills Week Counsellor

As a lifelong member of the Bow-Isle family, I’m eager to make sure at least one of my summer weeks is spent on Bowen Island. I’ve had the opportunity for many years to support camp in the role of photographer which has been an absolute joy. Getting to capture the fun-loving qualities that each camper express, be it youth or family campers, is something I treasure. When not participating in camp, I’m working as a Communications Specialist for a non-profit, helping to tell their story through video, photography and social media. Honestly, the years I spent telling the story of camp couldn’t have prepared me any better for the line of work I’m in now. This summer, I’m excited to come back to camp wearing my counselor hat and helping to run the Girls Skills Week program with Emily. I will be leading the photography portion of the week, where we’ll learn about the principles of photography, talk about composition and then go out and experiment.

 Emily – Skills Week Counsellor

Bree – Junior Counsellor

Hello all! My name is Bree, and this will be my 10th year at Camp Bow-Isle and my second as a staff member. I love to sing and draw, and in my spare time I do sports such as diving, gymnastics, and pole vaulting. Camp is a very special place to me because of all the great friendships I have made and the many things I have learned, especially about Christian Science. As someone who hopes to be a teacher one day, I love working with kids, and can’t wait to meet yours and support them in spiritual growth this camp session!

Ellery – Junior Counsellor

I am an avid nature lover, and music enthusiast! I have been with camp for ten years, and will be graduating high school this spring. I am hoping to attend University in Scotland, to study Spanish and Math. I can’t wait to meet everyone who will be joining us at Bow Isle this summer!

Olivia – Junior Counsellor

Hi everyone, my name’s Olivia and I’m from Victoria, BC. I’ve just finished my first year at Principia College, where I’m part of the mediation team and a student manager in the dining hall. I love dancing, going for walks in the sunshine, and going for coffee dates with my friends. Growing up on Vancouver Island, I love being on the ocean and all the activities that come with it, swimming, kayaking, looking in tide pools are some of my favourites. I’m so excited to be back on Bowen Island, enjoying the trees, the lake, the breeze for my eighth year, second on staff. I can’t wait to be in the Big-A with all the campers, laughing and singing and seeing them express who they want to be! I’m counting down the days, can’t wait to see you on Bowen Island!

Ruby – Junior Counsellor

Hi there! My name is Ruby, and I hail from Southern Oregon, although I spend most of my time on the other side of the country, since I’m currently studying at Connecticut College in New London, Connecticut. I’m a singer, a pianist, a figure skater, and an aspiring educator. When I’m not studying for my classes, you’ll usually find me at the rink, singing in choir, or practicing my music at the piano. I spent three wonderful summers at Bow-Isle as a camper, and I’m beyond excited to return as a counselor. There is nothing quite like the sense of family that exists here at Camp. I promise–you’ll feel it the moment you step out of the car! I can’t wait to get to know you and sing lots of songs together around the campfire. See you soon!

Ashleigh – CIT (Counsellor in Training)

Hello Campers and Parents! My name is Ashleigh and I’m from Bellevue Washington, USA. I love to get outside, take photos and be active. In school I enjoy learning about history and art. I also love spending time with my two pet rabbits and my dog. I am in the National Leadership Council through Discovery Bound. This program has inspired me to participate more actively in camp and I have a deeper appreciation for the special environment that it provides. I love working with kids and look forward to getting to know the campers and growing spiritually along side them. Camp is a great place to unplug, make new friends, push our boundaries, and get closer to God. I am so excited to bring energy and love to each activity so that every camper can have the best experience possible! I can’t wait to see you all soon!
