The weather couldn’t be better to welcome the Junior Girls ~ and we are SO excited! We have an excellent line-up of women’s staff this summer ~ four of our counsellors are Class-taught students of Christian Science, and our Practitioners for Junior Girls and Senior Girls are both Camp Bow-Isle alumni!
For our staff training week, we spent time learning the hard skills and soft skills needed to be a counsellor. We were at the archery range, the lake, the ropes course, the field, and of course, in the Big A (gotta test out all the food, too!) We even went on an overnight trip to help us get ready to take campers on an outtrip each session.
Throughout all of our training, a consistent thread was our study of Christian Science. Each day we read and discussed the weekly Bible Lesson, talked about how to make the lessons learned in Sunday School relevant to our campers’ daily experiences, and explored topics like faith, wisdom, and understanding.
When we attended church in West Vancouver Wednesday evening, one quote stood out to me as it was read from the New Living Translation of the Bible: “Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen” (Hebrews 11:1). As we look forward to beginning the second half of our summer, I have faith that the girls coming to camp will learn about themselves, grow in their understanding of God, and have a fantastic and fun time doing both!
