Alison Osborne and Ben Vaughan look forward to meeting your children when they come to Camp Bow-Isle! As the Executive Director and Assistant Director of Camp Bow-Isle, their leadership qualifies them to lead the staff and campers on adventures packed with fun and spiritual growth.
Both Ali and Ben are students of Christian Science with many years of combined experience at Camp Bow-Isle as campers, counsellors and now directors. They are full of energy and enthusiasm, and enjoy working with young people in a variety of settings.
Ali Osborne, Executive Director
More than any other one place in her life, Ali has consistently returned “home” to Bow-Isle because of the opportunity it provides her to bless and be blessed each time she arrives on Camp property. For the past 15 years, she has enjoyed summers as a camper, CIT, counsellor, family camp staff member, and Camp Bow-Isle Outdoor Center (BIOC) staff member. As a year-round resident of Bowen Island, Ali has also seen the importance and opportunity for Camp’s role in the local community.
Common threads of Christian Science, youth mentoring, leadership, education, outdoor education, and camp run throughout Ali’s personal and professional experience. After her undergraduate degree, Ali spent two and a half years in Denver as the Program Coordinator and then as the Program Supervisor of DiscoveryBound’s National Leadership Council (NLC) program. She has just completed 4 years serving as a program class leader. Most recently, Ali completed her Masters in Intercultural and International Communication, including three months living and working in Kisumu, Kenya. During that time she helped with the construction of a girls’ school.
Ali is grateful for the opportunity to bring fresh inspiration to Camp’s operations and to build on Camp’s legacy and the mentoring and foundation provided by Jon and Karin Heath. She can’t wait to continue giving back to a place that’s given her so much.
Ben Vaughan, Assistant Director
Ben Vaughan has been involved with Camp Bow-Isle for nine years – as a counselor during boys sessions and family camp, as a nanny, cook’s help, and “Merlin” during girls sessions, and as a property maintenance worker and activities facilitator for visiting groups during the spring and fall. Aside from camp, Ben is a musician – as a teacher, composer, recording artist, and touring performer; and is a class-taught student of Christian Science, serving in his local branch church, Sunday School, and Reading Room.
Ben loves Bow-Isle deeply, and is honoured by his new responsibilities (and excited by the possibilities) serving as Assistant Director.
Parents — I so look forward to meeting you and welcoming your boys to camp.
Boys — See you soon; summer’s right around the corner and you know it’s going to be full of brave exploits, true friends, and memories for a lifetime!
